Okay, so the plan was to write something different before starting on the last book in the Final Diary series.
I had a cool supernatural plot, a relatable protagonist and a scary antagonist. That's all you need, right?
Right.
I put on the right playlist and started writing. It was like wading through treacle.
I didn't know what was going on. The music was right. I was excited about this story and thought that other people would love it. There was no shortage of ideas, no outside stress distracting me.
I came away and spent a couple of days procrastinating. Cleaning, washing up, emergency cupboard organisation - everything BUT writing.
That's when it hit me.
FINISH THE OTHER PROJECT FIRST, BONEHEAD.
My wife told me this ages ago, but I didn't listen.
I want to do the other one first! (stomps feet for effect)
The last book of The Final Diary is taking up headspace, a lot of headspace because it's a big story with a large cast of characters. It needs to be finished before I can move onto something new.
So that's what I'm doing. I made an official start on book three today and have absolutely no idea when I'll finish it, but I'm optimistic that it will be sometime this year.
I hope you enjoyed book two (please write a review on Amazon, even if you hated it.) If you haven't grabbed a copy yet, it's free for Kindle Unlimited subscribers or £2.50/$2.99 to buy.
The other story isn't going anywhere. That will be my first project once the Diary trilogy is done. Then there's that other one I need to do, about the woman who... STOP IT!
Have a great week.

👏👏👏Great decision, Paul! I want to find out what happens to William and the gang before moving on to another of your compelling stories!
